How Geothermal Cooling Works

Geothermal cooling uses the ground’s temperature to help cool your home. The temperature underground is a constant 55 degrees year-round, and a geothermal system taps into this temperature to efficiently cool the home.
To do this, the system uses a series of underground pipes known as a loop. Water flows through that loop, drawing hot air from your home and distributing the heat back into the soil. When the water returns to the home in the loop, it is cooler and ready to draw more heat from the air in the home. The heat pump powers the circulation of this water through the loop, keeping a constant flow of hot air leaving the home and cool air replacing it. Removing the heat from the air in the home in this way effectively cools it with much less energy expenditure.
